Control of Digico desks with OSC -
Correction
I had a short tag at the end of the most recent post - Edition 3B
where I mentioned the Elgato Stream Deck. Unfortunately it was a brief and not very accurate description of the device and the confusion that surrounds the hardware, software and the BitFocus Companion software of the same name.
My apologies.
Fortunately Andrew Broughton came to the rescue with a much better summary of these devices. Rather than paraphrase it I have just reproduced Andy's remarks below.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Stream Deck is the hardware button/knob/footpedal box made by Elgato. Elegato has their own software to create buttons, called (confusingly) "Stream Deck".
The DiGiCo Module does not run on the Elgato Stream Deck Software (which uses what they call “plugins”), it is hosted by a separate, Open-Source program called “Companion”. It is used in place of the Elgato “Stream Deck” software.
There’s hundreds of Companion Modules, for every kind of device. The creation of modules and configuration is well-documented and has an amazing support group of programmers and enthusiasts. I had never written a line of JavaScript before I started writing a Companion module, but the folks there helped me every step of the way. Writing a plug-in for the Elgato Stream Deck software is MUCH more difficult, and I doubt there’d be anything like the kind of hardware support for the StreamDeck that there is without Companion.
Also, the newer StreamDeck+ has rotary knobs, and I’ve used it to create local controls for various functions. One of the most useful is to allow a Stage Manager position where they can turn up and down program feed or specific sources (like the mic and keep the music low) and toggle their VOG/Paging Mic.

Thanks Andrew, and once again I would encourage anyone using Yamaha CL series desks to take a close look at the cool and very flexible control extensions and programabilities that Andrew's software adds to the platform.
You can find these resources here:-
If you have StreamDeck hardware and are looking to use if for OSC control then you can find the Companion software for programming the hardware here:-
Companion will also let you build touch screen interfaces. I have used this software but have not delved into module writing the way that Andrew has.
